A fantastic achievement, bearing in mind the tough competition in this event.

Introduction to Breaststroke

Breaststroke is the oldest and slowest of the four competitive strokes. It is the slowest because it is the least streamlined, but that doesn't mean it cannot be swum powerfully at speed. There are several styles which can be developed as the skill level increases.

Below is the sequence of Breaststroke, with a few simple pointers.

ASA Law States

•  The body shall be kept on the breast at all times

•  All movements of the arms shall be simultaneous

•  Hands must not be brought back behind the hips (except during under water stroke after the start and each turn)

•  During each cycle the swimmer's head must break the surface

•  All movements of the legs must be simultaneous

•  At each turn and at the finish of the race, the touch must be made with both hands simultaneously
